Jan MULDER

Light in dreams and memory is subject of my painting.

A word becomes Image by dripping paint and allowing it to dry, solidifying over time. It is important that you can see that it is painted. Paint strokes that remind us of “thinking” actions.

Can I understand the painting (translate into words)? I am afraid that when I understand it, it will become inferior, I will not be able to accept it. Language is a way of approaching the image. It floats around it and can never become an integral part of it. The less I understand my paintings, the better they are. Like they have become nature. In language the image is unravelled, deconstructed, sometimes interpreted. What always remains is the painting.
