Linet SÁNCHEZ GUTIÉRRIEZ, visual artist
Linet Sánchez Gutiérrez photographic work refers to the metamorphosis of memory.
The artist displays architectural venues, that are white, empty and inhabited by silence. They summon up visually reminiscences that are housed in some room, den, school or some dance studio.
The halo of light that illuminates these spaces accentuates the dreamlike character of the recall. Linet Sánchez gives a visible form to recollection.
The artist wonders about the relationship with our memory. Does our memory arouse remembrances, transform them, erase them? With time, it seems to her that these spaces of remembrance that she captures photographically, move away from the reality where they originated. It then becomes impossible to determine whether these images refer to a vision, an experience, or are simply a figment of the imagination.
We noticed the works of Linet during an exhibition of the Fucina de Artistas Gallery in Havana at the beginning of 2017 before meeting in her workshop a few days later and proposing to her to work with the gallery.
