Alejandro Sainz Alfonso, engraver and sculptor, Cuba
Using with dexterity the art of xylography, Alejandro woodcuts demonstrate a colorful visual style which hints to cartoons or dazibao. He describes scenes of everyday life designed from under water with some irony tinged with humor.
Today, he is an artist in residence at the Experimental Workshop of Graphic Arts of La Havana where we met him.

Awards
Alejandro Sainz Alfonso was awarded the first for his sculptures and the third prize in in the catégorie engraving at the Art Fair Fest @ Doral – Miami, United States (2014).
Editions
In 2016, Alejandro Sainz Alfonso participated in the Book of Arts Program at the University of Alabama, USA.
His works have been reproduced in Cuban artistic publications such as “Almendrones”, “Poder” and “Catch & Release”
Exhibitions
Alejandro has participated in numerous exhibitions in Cuba, the United States and Latin America.
Today, he is resident at the Experimental Workshop of Graphic Arts in Havana.
